Australia’s biggest state sprawls the south from the Kimberley’s northern, humid tropics to the Great Southern’s towering Karri forests bordering the wild Southern Ocean. Between are vast deserts and the world’s largest temperate woodland—the Great Western Woodlands—where we conducted our first Australian project in 2002. Fighting fire with fire
The smart use of fire, such as the reinstatement of traditional fire regimes used by Indigenous Australians for tens of thousands of years, has many positive benefits for conservation, local communities and for huge reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
Swan Canning Estuary
Shellfish reefs were once abundant in Perth's Swan-Canning Estuary. With the loss of these natural water filters that historically lived there, the health of the estuary is at risk, but we’re bringing them back.
Working with Indigenous Australians for Conservation

The mighty Fitzroy River in the Kimberley Region of far north Western Australia runs through the rugged and beautiful traditional Country of the Nyikina and Mangala people. It is part Australia's northern tropical savanna, considered the largest intact savanna in the world with globally-significant biodiversity.
